"Our
goal is to eliminate pain, not to help you live with it, " states
Stuart Donaldson, Ph.D. This is the guiding principle behind the development of
Myosymmetries.
Stuart Donaldson, Ph.D., a clinical psychologist, first worked in the more traditional
areas of psychology including counseling and forensics. In the 1980's
he became interested in the emerging field of biofeedback, particularly
electromyography. This led him to complete a Ph.D. at the University of
Calgary in 1989. As part of this degree he conducted a research study
into the effectiveness of EMG biofeedback in the alleviation of chronic
back pain. This research demonstrated the effectiveness of EMG in the
treatment of back pain and led to the formation of a private practice
specializing in pain treatment.
Over the years Stuart Donaldson, Ph.D. has conducted research into pain and has
developed leading edge protocols for the treatment of chronic pain. His
interest in the field of chronic pain led him to include other forms of
biofeedback such as EEG neurotherapy and to incorporate a multidisciplinary
approach including physical therapies, occupational therapy, massage therapy,
myofascial release, craniosacral therapy and trigger point therapy.
Stuart Donaldson, Ph.D. has published
a number of articles in respected journals and in 1995 was awarded the
American Journal of Pain Management's award for the outstanding Contribution
to the Interdisciplinary Pain Management Literature for that year.
